In Japan, we don't put a bathtub on the wooden floor like this, but it might become more common to see a bathtub as a part of interior decoration.

It's pretty cool to spend an afternoon in the bathtub with a cup of tea and enjoy the sunshine and nice view outside.

Today we will show you a living room set for outdoor use. This products is made by the manufactures whose wood stores we carry.

We can find outdoor tables and chairs in Japan, but most of them are made of either wood or plastic and look pretty cheap. And they are usually used on a beach or camp ground.

But in Canada, they seem to know how to enjoy their lives; using this gorgeous furniture, you could probably feel as if you were at a nice summer resort.

I think it's a wonderful idea to put such a nice table and chairs on a wood deck, surrounded by the lawn and trees.

It will be even better if you can see a high mountain or the sea in the distance.

You don't have to put them away even in the rain. This furniture's frame is made of anti rust aluminum, and the cloth and cushions are made of special fiber that doesn't easily deteriorate with dirt or sunshine.

It must be nice to listen to relaxing music like bossanova outdoors, with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of champagne in the evening.

Can you understandable the stubbornness from continuing to build imported house, although simple, modern has been the trend recently.

Personally, my favorite movie is American Graffiti, my favorite singers are Samuel Cooke and Elvis Presley.

The North American home electrical appliances that I found recently, is this.

Don’t you think the design looks like an old American car that was brought into the kitchen?

It goes without saying that the range as well as the dishwasher, micro wave, exhaust fan and refrigerator all have a retro American look to it.

North America and Japan use the same type of gas. However, we can’t use this gas range in Japan, because it has not been certified by the Japan gas association.

But, in Nagoya, we can use the gas top type radiant heater if the electromagnetic waves are less than IH.

The frequency is the same in West Japan and North America.

There are a lot of retro colors we can choose from, not just only red.

Price is a bit

high. However, it is good for people who want to enjoy designing their house.

Gorgeous bathtub name "Macao"

There is a big bathtub in the center of the room. Using marble and dark wood finish around the bathtub, it was decorated like an "Asian Gorgeous".

Of course, with a finish like this, you have to construct the bathtub separately. However, this decorated finish doesn't exist if the bathtub doesn't exist.

In the square-shaped, 1.5 meter bathtub, the design, which is cut out to give it rounded shape, make it easier for the person to sit in the bathtub. The design looks like a four-leaf clover when looking at it from above.

It could call it a lucky bathtub.

Normally two adults can fit comfortably in the bath when it is this size. It is also possible for children to also fit in the bath.

Naturally, this bathtub has a jet bath, so you can relax and soak in the tub.

This bathtub which is made in Canada, has been given a depth of nearly 50cm.

Usually, European people aren't accustomed to taking a bath with the water up to their necks. The reason for this depth is the conscious awareness of the Japanese culture.

Whirlpool cleaner for jet bath

Like domestic one, whirlpools make bubbles by circulating the air in the room and water in the bathtub with an electric pump.

If you use the whirlpool(bath) every day, dirt doesn’t accumulate so much. Some scale still accumulates in water pipes, though.

Whirlpools are not so common in Japan, so most shops don’t carry whirlpool cleaners.

However, they are widely available in North America.

This cleaner was introduced by a bathtub distributor we do business with.

It’s highly recommended as it decomposes bacteria, get rid of sebum and dirt, and removes bad smells.

Of course, it doesn’t damage bathtubs made of acrylic resin or FRP.

All you have to do is to put this cleaner in the water, and allow the system to run for 15 minutes.

If you want safe, environmentally friendly whirlpool cleaner, this is a must, isn’t it?

I remember there was an old bossanova song with such title.

The colorful design(of this sink) reminds you of a beach in Rio de Janeiro.

You might also think the design reminds you of Japanese pottery or kimono.

This washbowl counter is the latest model manufactured by Kohler Co., which also makes the washbowl with Prairie flower paints.

It’s so unique, and yet unpleasant at all.

This washbowl counter consists of two parts, the counter and the under sink.

Of course, they are used together, so the pattern continues seamlessly as if it was one sink.

I am sure customers will be surprised if they see such a unique washbowl counter.

There is just one problem in shipping this item, though.

Since sink are very fragile, there is a risk that they are damaged during shipping.

So please be aware of the risk when you place an order.

Flower-Shaped Bathroom Washbowl

Isn’t this a charmingly designed washbowl?

It is a ‘drop-in’ type of washbowl which fits onto the top of a bathroom counter.

This washbowl is cast resin and you can find this kind recently in Japan.

The raw material is polyethylene.

By using this material, such a shape becomes possible.

Resin casting is simple, so even though the washbowl is made in Canada, the price is good value.

If you use the washbowl in the normal way, you would not have any problems. You should avoid strong detergents and pointed metals. These items may cause the washbowl to melt and create scratches.

Of cause, using items like that would also help to create grime.

If you are aware of these things, we recommend this washbowl which combines both price and design.

Monotone bathtub

This time we are showing a simple, modern bathtub that doesn't appear to be from an imported house.

Usually, for most North American bathtubs, a box is made and the bathtub is then put on the box.

As shown in this picture, as an option, a skirt that is connected to the wall panel can be attached to the bathtub.

The advantage of having an attached skirt is that you can dismantle the skirt, making it easy to do maintenance on the bubble motor and plumbing fixtures on your jet bath.

However, in Japan, we must waterproof the bath in order to protect it from water going under the bathtub because Japanese take a shower outside of the bathtub.

Which means we have to keep in mind that the panel will be fixed and sealed.

It seems some designs differences with Japanese one.

We can feel care about as follow.

There is a metal furniture attached shower next to bathtub.

There is a dent for as near as possible to apron when you enter the bathtub.

It may be relax and mind went blank like a bathtub.

Nagoya was swaying from left to right for 1 or 2 eternally long minutes by the earthquake in north east Japan, although the seismic source is so far from here.

It seems so many building structures have been destroyed by the destructive tsunami waves of up to 10 meters. Not only tsunami caused those building to be destroyed. in fact, but earthquake damaged buildings at first, then tsunami collapsed those buildings.

It's time to consider about earthquake-resistant or move to new place if you're living an old house here. People whose house stands at lower than sea level might suffer disaster of big tsunami and might have an occasion to move to altitude of 33ft height above sea level.

According to some study, it is predicted to suffer destruction by tsunami in such places below. e.g. south or south west part of Nagoya, along bay coast of Ise gulf, Horikawa river, Shinkawa river, Shonaigawa river and Kiso three rivers

Noubi plain has made from pile of soft earth and sand that were carried by rivers. Land level is almost the same as sea or river. In these places, both strengthening foundation and building in earthquake-resistant construction are entirely no meaning. People only can move out this place in order to avoid such a terrible disaster.

It is about time to talk with your family about how to avoid that kind of disaster, as well. This disaster reminds me it is important to keep in touch with your neighbor, and take measures to escape damages in local community.

Champagne Ball & Awards Evening

We participated in the party event on Friday night. Both TJCS and ACCJ organized this “Champagne Ball & Awards Evening”.
About 300 Japanese and people from abroad got together at Hilton Hotel.

It was impressive for me.

Well-dressed men and women of all ages fluctuated between hope and despair during the lottery to be winner. Dance party went through midnight and also intoxicated.

Participants got exciting by 80’s dance music such as The Beatles, Oldies, Earth wind & Fire, and they reminded a page of youth.This is the difference of culture. Men and Women from Western countries were getting together and naturally dance to music. It seemed to be a graduation party in America. I think that elder Japanese will be hesitate to do it. It’s Japanese weak point, isn’t it?

We’d like to improve our wealthy day life.

Have a party outside sometime,

otherwise stay calm with family in the moody interior which has indirect lighting.

I just realized it on that day.

Last weekend we had an open-house in Toyota, then many people visited there.
There was an open-house next door by one of major house company too. It had an affect on our open-house, but we hope that some visitor could be impressed by this.

Usuallly our customer has similar sense of value, but It is important to show our style for people who don’t know about us. If not, They never known new things and about us.

Elegant but Gorgeous!

Our new house in Toyota was opened for public as scheduled.
We look forward to finalizing our house construction. We’re a bit tied up though.

This is a picture of double sidelite door which has stained glass on both side of entrance.

Our customer chose it, but it’s very rare and unique.

A orange bud with blue-gray stalk give us a lovely and gentle impression.

Atmosphere of stained glass seems like a hand made.

It looks very nice!!

It reminds you something like that in medieval times in Europe, which is well suited for pink-gray brick cladding.

We went to the seminar in Fukuoka and Osaka 2 weeks ago. It say “Re-home, Re-modeling experience in Canada”. More than 50 people joined in both place.

I was often asked about

“Do you feel nervous when you talk in front of many people?”
“Do you practice for the seminar?”

Actually, Not at all.

We introduced interior renovation by Para-Paint. Most of contents were already written in Blog and HP, also spoken to customers many times. so I don’t have to study it every time. I meant we only talk about what we’re usually doing.

There isn’t enough time at this time. Just think about what the priority and what the point . I think it will be able to manage somehow or another.

It’s brand new but Antique!

We’d like to show you a kind of antique door at this time, but It combines vintage pattern with brand new door. One of them on the picture above.

The white color peeled off from the door and brown color coat comes out. The door ground coat disclose slightly by rubbing.The door clear or brown color of Paint-stain is getting more dingy.

How excite it is!!
We got excite by feel it’s atmosphere.

For long time ago, one of our customer bought a vintage door and asked to install it .The Antique door is too difficult to install it to the frame of entrance for new house, because it is winding and untrue.

But, if it is brand new door like that on the picture, no problem to install it to the new house. Perhaps you need to adjust wall and floor for the door.

If you want to build such as a Totoro’s house ,a western style house or a old house in England. You will love these doors. There are many people thought this way in Japan, but It’ll be difficult to connect with a maniac builder. Something like our company has.

By the way, The price of an antique door is about ￥80000.

actually it’s good price despite it has elaborate decorations. It is hard to build a whole designed house, but it is worth to try.

Party House!!

We went to the Party at the house that our company concerned with.
It had postponed for long time because homeowner had been so busy. but, They finally held this party with friends of church where they going to.

Nearly 50 people participated in this party in the end.

How big party it is!

More than 2/3 people are from Canada or America.
The other people has a partner from abroad.

We have ever had such a party that most of participants were from abroad.
I could be understood if it was a reception of Embassy or Consular Office. but, This was just a home party.

By the way, It was a Pot Luck Party which participants should bring some food and drinks with them.We pleased to have wine, non-alcohol beer, fried chicken and Oni-manju.

Master baked sparerib for everyone on the wood deck outside.

This western style house with dry wall is the best situation to have a party like that.

Some of participants were really happy with it.

Because there is few door in the house. It seems that you are in foreign country.

Winter is coming soon!!

Please look at this picture.

There is a wood stove on the 2nd floor at the house that we have an Open-House from 20th November, Saturday. This is a simple free standing type. You can put kettle on the flat-top of that. I meant no dryness in the room.

Both Body and Chimney of this stove is made by double structure, so it doen’t matter if you touched it. This is a High safety standard model from Canada.Unexpectedly, it has a large amount of space.so, You can make a roasted sweet potatoes too.

The Fire-set should be used for clean up the stove sometime.therefore, It is not just a decoration.

We installed full-bricks around the wood stove as same as that for a brick cladding wall.It’s quite different with flat bricks. obviously, There is much benefit of outstanding thermal effect.

We also installed dry-wall for wall and ceiling, it looks like a natural interior though.Para-Paint has a beautiful color variation. and it’s original elegant wall really suit for a dark-brown floor and ceiling.

It’s very important to have something image or view when you built the House.

Final countdown ~Open House in Toyota~

We’re going to report for our new house in Toyota which we have an Open-House on Nov. 20th(Sat), 21st(Sun), 23rd(Tue). It’s still constructing though.
First of all, The built-in garage door made of wood. It seems to be a white castle with a huge gate.

A brown color wood shutter. Look at the picture on the above.

The garage door on the right side is not completed yet.
Imported garage door is made by wood panels and it piles up from the bottom.
It’s impossible to lift it up by yourself., because of it’s weight.
It also can’t do this by motor.

There is a coil-spring inside and utilize it to open/close the garage door.

Next, please look at another picture

Dining & kitchen with L-shape Bar style.You can see the rare designed imported cabinet.

We adopted the counter table to use limited space usefully. They might have a dinner with this.
All of family members are able to take a seat beside the table.

and, You can see the big side-by-side Refrigerator behind the counter.

There are many noticeable at our house.

in Japan It’s normally sepatated into bathtub, washroom, sink and dressing room.
On the other hand, people in Western countries concentrate them in one place.
Is it rationalism?

For example, Look at this picture on the above.
It’s takes the traditional-room design concept.
This room provides 2 Pedestal, bath-tub and toilet seat with abundant space.
Including cabinet for towels and small articles. You could have a small break by the chair.
and the Rack is used for holding things such as shampoo in the bath-tub

It can afford to put some flowers on the cabinet.
Not only wall and floor but everything unified to be monotone.
One piece of painting and dark-green flowers brings brilliant colors.

You could feel something like that it makes more brighten on day time.

Next, please look at another picture which you might spend a time on there before sleep.

At the dusk, Sunshine get in through the double-hung window. and
Incandescent light bulb vividly illuminate the pedestal.

A bathtub also contrast well with brightness of downlight.

Buy house for wealthy life

What is your priority when you build a house or purchase a condominium?
I believe everyone like this word “Low Cost” and it’s usually on the high rank.

However, If you have only financial problem, Do you really want to have your own house?

In that case, You will be lost your large fortune.
and, It will take 30 years to complete this mortgage.

If you have no idea about your salary in the future.
You better take a leasing condominium than purchasing a house which owing you a lot.
because you could remove to new place easily and you mustn’t pay property tax or maintenance fee periodically. That’ll be very convenience.

To be honest, a lot of people hope to have their own house.

There are some reasons to lose mind themselves, such as Dream, Desire of family, and status to have own house.

Especially People in Nagoya tend to think that way.
I meant there isn’t a perfect leasing condominium.

We think everybody will have own house someday.
also some people aim at real low-cost residence.

It’s strong feeling of that you want to decrease those fixed payment. (described on the above)
Never mind about the quality and design of house, if you secure a room.

We certainly agree with this.

but, does everybody achieve all their aims?

For example,
①Low cost 20 million yen House
②High quality 30 million yen House

Which house do you take?
There is a 10 million difference.

This is the era of super low-interest.
The interest about 3,000～4000 yen per month if you borrow 1 million yen.
I meant, The interest will be 30～40 thousands yen per month if you borrow 10 million yen.

It’s not a big deal!!
If you smoke 1 box of cigarette per day and go to café 2 times a day.
It will cover the payment by this.

A window made by Resin (PVC) is not popular in Japan.
It’s only use for window frame or sash. Of course, It doesn’t cover a part of windowpane.

PVC technology are strong, durable, inexpensive and easy arrangement. PVC has strong structure like a honeycomb and air layer improve it’s insulation system. besides, The resin is easy to makeup and get it by reasonable price.

Condensation will never happen on the inside surfaces of this window.

That’s why over 90% of people in Canada and America adopted this PVC for their residence.

We import some PVC products from ACAN. They sent us 2 pieces of pictures on the below.

What a lovely home, it is!? In fact, these house are belongs to normal family.
It’s really Huge, isn’t it !!
You might have an image of that one of resort hotel or something public institution.
To be sure, Those windows are made by PVC.
Personally, I would like to build such a house for my own.

Luxuly Home!! No Scaffold!!

One of our HOME will have an Open house on Nov. 2oth(Sat), 21st(Sun), 23rd(Tue).

Look at this !! An exterior wall with bricks is just like a Stone built.

The arch-style entrance made of bricks carry each other. You might feel its gonna be dropped off. but, No problem!! There are many constructions made by same method such as The Meganebashi in Nagasaki, Japan and The Roman Aqueduct in Italy.

As you also can see from a picture, we have a unique 'Quoin' on the wall beside an Arch.

"What is a Quoin?"
Those square-designed layout are made by bricks dislocation. One of the great technique!It just looks like a Castle ,doesn't it !!
We will have an image of 'Forever' after we look at this. just about our dream.

The thick brick-wall is possible to have it's original bay-window.

The stainless steel Chimney is remarkable, too.

You know? A rain gutter made by aluminum does Not need to re-paint again and it’s also long lasting. That’ sounds nice!!

The Beauty In The House

Today I found a nice photograph from my old data glossary. It is a one of our showcase of Staircase. Although we completed that almost seven years ago, still keeps beauty.

This Staircase made from solid pine and the design is Quarter Landing Staircase.

We usually provide with Straight Staircase in case the space has a huge floor.

By the way, there weren’t enough space of height between first floor and second floor ceiling due to it is the mezzanine. One day the customer has got a nice idea for a space under the staircase to install a mini-library! Therefore we recommended this type of staircase.

I was hardly studied about many parts of stair in detail to combine then picked up one by one to reach what a customer wants.

Nowadays the house builder who knows materials in North America is fewer than before, then I think we are the one of a best company which can provide you with a right value of houses with all our might!

Anyway, as you can see the decorations called Stair Bracket under treads. It will be available only in Home Made. Other parts of banister, ”Volute” is shaped as its name, and “Four Risers Quarter-turn” has more gorgeous design. Here is one of the highlight in this house.

As I said all parts of this Staircase made from a solid pine. It is soft wood therefore the Baluster has designed a little thick than a solid oak even a same design.

How wonderful the Canadian supplier is considering about design according to materials in such as tiny details!

I introduce an open house in Toyota, Aichi Pref. This is a brick cladding house. A Canadian bricklayer has installed whole bricks at exterior. And I will complete this house in the middle of Nov.

So we'd like to hold an open house on Nov. 20th (Sat), 21st (Sun) and 23rd(Tue) prior to delivery. Time is 10:00-17:00.

This picture is an exterior view. You can see the arched brick beam and quoin corners at entrance.

The Canadian materials are also one of highlights, a whirlpool in bath room, Canadian appliances in kitchen, a wood burning stove, built-in garages, drywall interior and central air conditioner, etc.

A Refreshing Day!

These days ago I went for a ride by a motorcycle to Hida Takayama with my friend.

The motorcycle was a rental one. It was quite convenient, thank you KPS ! I felt very excited but actually it was scary because I haven’t ride a motorcycle in fifteen years ! And was also first time to ride a four stroke 400cc, I used to ride a two stroke 250cc one.

In the beginning, I was confusing about cornering.. but It’s like riding a bicycle. After a while, I didn’t consider much about that!

We took highway through rote22 to go to Takayama.

While riding a wind blows really hard to my body when the speed is over 80km/hr. Then again, I began to consider what dangerous if I blew off by a crosswind, so scary!!

Well, I think I didn’t care such a thing long time ago..Anyway, We arrived Takayama lastly.

For lunch we choose a one of famous and popular Yakisoba&Rahmen Restaurants “Chitose” not only for the strangers but also for local people. Yakisoba Teishoku I choose was so good.

I really enjoyed the short trip to there and left.

When halfway passed, we stopped at gas station. After a few second, I noticed that unfortunately I was forgot my wallet!! But luckily I could I remember the last time I used mine was.. “Chitose”! Then immediately I searched telephone number of there and called.

Then a kind women’s voice answered to me, she said “Yes, certainly I am keeping it.” It was found by a customer that I can remember a couple of women who were sitting next to us!

I appreciate they are being so kind. And she said that she will send me it right away.

Lastly she found that one of their worker’s relative live in near my home, what a coincidence! This is sometimes happen, I think it is by a twist of fete. I shall go there again.

By the way, I’ve perfectly enjoyed and refreshed. Ah, now already thinking about next time...

A Steady Works Of Home Made

Our company give the last finish to interior walls and ceilings in a North American style called Drywall.

It never tears or peels off as wallpaper so that easily to repair unprofessionally with a few of plaster putty and safety water paints even if some place cracked or stained.

It is truly beautiful when light up this wall.

Unlike the wallpaper, there are many processes to carry out the Drywall.

Actually it needs some particular tools and materials in addition it’s in different order, it is a not easy choice.

Unfortunately, I often see some of house builders are not giving Primer, they just apply final paints on plaster boards directly due to reduce the process.

The plaster board may be absorbed paints. Any import paint manufactures never recommends this method.

We certainly can carry out the Drywall according to the proper rules of it.

We put water-based Primer as undercoating on the wall then give the final paints on it twice. This is a special tip for finishing a beautiful Drywall.

In fact the finishing paints are easily takes into a plaster boards or wooden parts due to the surface is covered by paper material so that it will be waste paints. The primer prevents a plaster board to it soaked up paints.

It also aids the final coat by giving an even finish, allowing the paint to properly adhere to the smooth primer layer.

Not only that, it covers some dirt rose to the surface of the plasterboard.

Those are our proud of the works of the Drywall.

Maintaining Your Window Screen

Many of imported window screen is fixed to the window with pins. As you can see in this photo ; a set of screen pin of Marvin’s ; are made of plastic.

Unfortunately it possible to deteriorate due to weather naturally, then perhaps it possible to be broken in ten years later or so. Therefore if there are some replacements it is very useful.

Living in Imported house, living in Japan, preparation is very important to our house.
In generally many of imported house builder doesn't have some stock of replacements, I suppose.

Anyhow Home Made is going to minority way we can not prepare perfectly of replacements, though so we are considering about how to get it anytime you need.

In my opinion, it is likely that domestic (Japanese) standard of windows could be changed or stopped to provide important parts suddenly in ten years or so.

To compare with import sashes, I think it is more kind for customers than the domestic one.

Imports are quite long lusting also the company can stock the replacements for a long time. In fact, I would recommend that you just keep some spare parts for your windows.

In addition some imported windows are available; fiberglass screens which has high durability and more strong than domestic, plastic one in our stock.

The Triple Built-In Garage Doors

This is a House we’ve almost finished these days, located in Obu city, south of Nagoya city.

This time I took this photo focused on those wooden garage doors.

The triple garage doors are installed on the red-bricks wall. The colors and tiles pattern in this layout feels like a music, I mean nice combination of materials.

In regard to function, the transmitter would transmit on a designated frequency; the receiver would listen for the radio signal, then open or close the garage, depending on the door position. It means it can never opens by someone from the out side.

Then talk about a security, open it by hands is possible in case of emergency. What to do in that situation is just pull down a rope tied to a safety device to release back towers door opener only from inside.

By the way, I think materials from North America are quite Simple but Sturdy. I can see some considerations in details.

Today I realized again, the import house building has many many possibility and, "dreams".

How wonderful to have a huge garages, it will absolutely admire car/motorcycle fans.

What a Neat, Carpet Flooring !

In here Japan, I have seen some people would rather to choose a wooden flooring than a carpet one.
Why because they just want to avoid a severe dust mite allergy that I really understand.
Anyhow in my opinion, sometimes people have a wrong impression in regard to a carpet flooring.

On the other hand, Carpet flooring is still common in the North America so far.

By the way, If you are looking to add warmth and quiet elegance in your home, I would like to recommend the Carpet flooring installation your home, then show you a beautiful example of it.

In this photo, I think its very magnificent combination of white wooden doors, drywall and the Carpet flooring! Especially golden door knobs or hinges are making effects to brighten the room up.

This carpet is made in Canada, the pile deep is about 10mm to 15mm also its waterproofed.

Therefore even if some juice spilled on this carpet it does not soak into the structural lumber. Just in that case, wipe it immediately with wring out towel then it is enough.

In addition it also has mite-proofed. What a tip to make the carpet safe is just keep air dry in your room!
We usually put urethane pads on all floor under the carpet to make it more softer. It must be comfortable on your feet.

Why don't you choose a carpet flooring if you admire to make a house as an American style,
I think it would be best for you.

Toyota 2000GT and Home Made's Creativity

This is a classic car, Toyota 2000 GT, manufactured in 1967.

I recently saw this at the LEXUS showroom in the Midland Square.

It recognized that I also meet a first Nissan-Skyline GT-R, just six month ago, it seems I’ve seen series of great cars in the past these days.

May I say I prefer a old or classic cars than a modern cars, or its just unsuitable for me a modern cars are...?

Anyway, I was very excited because it was the first time to meet such a close to 2000GT!

It was quite good condition, I guess it carried from Toyota Museum?

It designed very cool from this photo angle even so center of gravity was almost twenty to eighty from the right side ! Awesome.

Well, actually that design reminds me that my car Suzuki Cappuccino is designed like, pushed the back sheet against the rear tire.

However I imagined Japan was energetic very much when that kind of design has coming up.
I hope their manufacturing could be live as long as they can.

Then I've overlapped to think about design both the 2000GT and a house of Home Made.
We should provide a house for a customer who can really sure to be proud of it to their children.

Therefore a design is one of the most important elements to reach a high level of quality and durability, what I realized again today. How do you think of it?

The Imported House, Just Like a Castle

Now this house is constructing in Toyota city and will be complete few weeks later.

This time we choose to laid a bricks named “Heritage Gray” for brick veneer wall.

Those bricks has a rugged surface almost like a stone.
Then about the color, those were formerly red but coated by white sand therefore this bricks are wearing pinkish gray then it is looks like white in a whole picture.

Actually, those bricks are named gray but that’s really like a white castle in the dream. Isn't this fabulous? We are proud of our materials, perhaps, no one cannot provide such a nice bricks?

Sometime later you can see completely how beautiful this house.

The Mirror Wall Cabinet Has Been Rare

This is one of the houses showcasing our work in Kariya city.

And it was partly designed by one of our female staff.
When she joined our company, she was a new graduate, so she needed to be trained from the very beginning.
I'm sure that she had to study really hard and had some tough times back then.

The cabinet and counter in the washroom was designed by her. Actually, I had to ask her to redesign it many times until we can could share the design with the client.
And then, we had some meetings with the client for the final design.

It was made by natural color oak and we put a pure white counter on it.

The imported cabinet and counter are custom-built and there weren't any other choices. It shows the brightness and cleanliness, and I think it also express the atmosphere of the customer.
And then, she used a dolphin shaped faucet. It's easy to imagine that children love to use it. About the mirror, fortunately there was a medicine cabinet in our stock, which perfectly fits to the room.

The medicine cabinet is quite useful for putting goods away around the washbasin like toothbrushes, or cosmetics, and so on, but recently it has been rare in North America. And what I hope is this kind of old design loved by every generations.

I really would recommend especially for Japanese people who prefer to use storage, in addition there is a function of the mirror! It will make washbasin keep clean.

Real American Residence in Nagoya, Japan

This house was built for American family staying in Nagoya, japan. They have many friends and hold a party together. So, a huge space was required here.

I installed the whole bricks at the first floor wall. And for the interior wall, I installed drywall like North America, though they are rare in Japan.

Of course, many building materials were imported from Canada. So, this house is a real western style house.

Added a new work, Mr. M's house in my web page of Work Introduction. The house plan is based on feng shui conception and Japanese retro design in Showa period. Foe this House, while we asked a master the opinion of feng shui, we were planning the floor and exterior design.

Considering the features and usability, it is often not ideal. But we finally achieved this to use every device.

At exterior wall we installed Stucco Flex that combines durability and flexibility as a cladding material. And we installed asphalt shingle roofing with 30 years warranty on the roof.

The interior conception is the house where the owner's wife had visited a grandmother in her childhood. It can also be sticking to this even a new building. Old Style Design K1770PB

Recently I have never seen such a brass colored lighting in North America. However, Japanese may like a chandelier with candle bulbs.

It is not so decolative but they will imagine the old American life in this design.

The diameter is 17" and it is suitable in a narrow stairway.

The customer, N moved here yesterday, but it looks like an old house by the light and shadow on the drywall.

It will become beautiful more after 10 years or more.

The other Japanese builders cannot achieve such a design because they use a vinyl wall paper and a commonplace lighting fixture.

Calculated Beauty

The highlights in home design are kitchen, vanity, bath tub and lighting, etc. This time we introduce the staircase and handrail.

From a recent trend, simple and modern style, there are not so many builders who install the decorative design in houses.

It may be easier, if it is packaged together with all. But I must combine the various parts depending on the size and shape of the stairs. And a carpenter needs experience and time for the installation.

How do you think about this? I think it is art. Ballusters stand rhythmically and handrail moves three-dimensionally.

This is made of solid red oak and I can choose delicate design for ballusters. Because it is so hard and difficult to break.
When using soft pine for staircase, I will choose thick ones to increase the strength of the tread and balluster.

I have to change the materials in accordance with the place and customer's desire. It would be required to a builder.

Recently, I wrote a post about a Japanese marketing seminar that I was asked by a group of material company in Atlantic Canada through the Canadian Consulate in Nagoya. And I would like to introduce some interesting products in its group companies.

American Terraced house

Recently I was consulted by a brother in law about the exploitation of the land.

He has some lands and other assets but he has a fear that he is not able to pay the municipal property tax in future.

So, we bring a large urban agricultural land adjoining a road at 112 feets in focus. The land is located in Midori ward, Nagoya.

Here, the property tax is cheap as long as he has as a agricultural land, but it is no value, if he exploits it.

But once he changes the land to a housing lot site, he must pay the tax so much.

He asked me if a cheap apartment building was available, but the apartment for low incomer exsists a lot.

In addition, such a market always falls victim of price competition and vacant room.

So, I had suggested the rental houses for foreign families. They make a tranquil community to live in three families.

As for Families living away from home, it is encouraged that some families who come from the same country, stay close.

As the image plan, if a house looks western style luxury building and there are three houses with the reasonable rent as well, I feel that it has considerable potential for demand.

Of course, as well as exterior, I build the houses with imported materials from North America, with western interior design like their home. Well, Home made is bset at western style in Japan.

You may feel a little condominium in North America.

It is still a project in the future, but if it starts moving, it works well, it might become a new core business in Home Made Company.

Imported Appliances

Some of customers want to install the appliances imported from North America in their new house.

It is easy for me, but usual home builders cannot do it because they are not familiar with such appliances and could not understand a installation guide in English.

Why shall we use such appliances in Japan?

I am a challenger and the design & dimension is different from Japanese one. I feel an American life style on them.

However, please be careful for the imported appliances!

There is no meintenance service in Japan because the warranty is applied in domestic only.

So, you have to be ready to re-import and replace it, if it goes wrong.

If you have no generosity about it, please choose domestic ones in Japan. Even considering such care, when you still like the design in North America, they are recommended.

Asian influences

Recently I received a consultation from a customer who wants to build a house with decor inspired by Bali, Indonesia.

It is still planning roughly, so that I do not know whether we can do it together or not. However, I would like to introduce the design to you a little.

In North America, it is no doubt that Asian decor which includes Japanese is one design trend.

As for Southeast Asia, including Bali, I think there's almost a longing for a distant country in North America.

The theme of the interior is "Asian Aesthetics of simplicity, serenity and harmony".

Unique items that are placed there are produced now.

Famous manufacturers produce some bronze coloured faucets and a bamboo-shaped faucet. Bronze colour appears old time and bamboo design echoes the peace and serenity found in nature.

In North America gold or silver colour in faucet has been in popular, it has been turned into something a little less glitz like satin nickel colour.

In Japan, when we look for the ethnic products, we must rely on imports from Southeast Asia, but in North America there are a lot of manufacturers which have designed products by themselves.

Of course, in fact, some manufacturers are placed for producing in China because of low wages, but quality control and inspection, design centers have been remained in home country.

In Japan houses become the same design. When a modern design becomes in fashion, all major home builder builds it with modern and simple design without exception.

"Fashion = profitable" "Same fashion = safe". They are a nature of Japanese.

People who want to express your individuality with Asian influences are always under stress, because major housing companies cannot reply to their demand.

(If Asian influences become popular, the companies would build homes with only Asian influences.)

In any event, the Japanese House design fashion has been delayed in several years and I think that Japan is an underdeveloped country in the wealth of home building.

Foundation for brick cladding

This is the foundation for a brick wall and there is outside of the foundation for wood structural framing. The width is 6 inches.

You can also confirm the thickness of the ferroconcrete in the photo.

It is enough to withstand the heavy brick wall to stand up vertically.

The nice thing about this brick foundation is to be on the same base as foundation of the building frame.

So, even if ground subsidence has occurred, brick wall and building frame will go down together and it does not cause trouble by the only one side subsidence.

At last Weekend, a lot of customers came to House Open House in Moriyama-ku, C's house. Thank you.

I guess that they could see design capped with a considerable impact, it may be lucky.

Well, last week renovation in I's house has proceeded smoothly and I removed the old concrete roofing materials and installed the new asphalt shingle roofing.

Let me introduce a bit of the thing.

The roof, according to the shape of the house, is facing various directions. Joint lines happen on roof valleys and ridges where face a different roof direction.

There is a weakness at heavy rain and wind, so I put a waterproof metal sheet on. We call it flashing.

In this photo you can see that I installed a stainless steel sheet baking color paint as flashing under the roof at the valley.

The old flashing was made by a steel painted with a color and I could not use it because of fairly rusty.

The customer says that it has been re-painted six years ago, but I could not confirm the re-painted finish.

Accordingly, I discussed with the roof worker, I decided to use stainless steel in the future without fear.

Of course, It takes an extra cost, this is my conscience to do so. So, I do not request it to the customer.

As for flashing, two things are important: (1) that the asphalt shingle roofing covers it enough, (2) Waterproof adhesive called asphalt coulking, contains properly on the flashing at the part in contact with the roofing. They will cover up weaknesses at the roof.

Even at the Japanese concrete roofing, and this asphalt shingle guaranteed 30-year, such underlayment work (Flashing and Felt) will prevent a leakage basically.

Anyway, my blog is a maniac, so people reads this and he may become an annoying customer for ordinary Japanese builders.

An open house has ended in C's house, Moriyama

This house is designed as a real American house.

It was an exhibit for only two days in weekend, but I had many customers come.

On Sunday my friend who took charge of the building code application has come to take pictures.

He is fascinated with a photography recently and took many pictures this time.

I will carry his 2 pictures here. If a camera isn't a good one as expected, it's useless.

I might not get such good pictures by my camera on cell phone.

There are a living and a dining room on both of pictures. A party of about 50 people can be helded enough here.

In a picture you can see the beauty of the arch wall and the brilliant oak floor. Don't you think it has the atmosphere in a huge American house?

The owner says that he does not like luxurious design, but if there are not these chandeliers in this house, it isn't well-balanced, is it?

Kitchen, lighting fixture and the interior coordination. I take charge of everything. I guess that no one can achieve such a level of American design.

I think that people who came to the open house is really lucky.

Cleaning up the job site - N's house in Ohbu-

A brick cladding work has been finished about one third at last.

The width of this house is more than ordinary house in Japan. So, I need the large amount of brick. It will be 1.5 times, 14,000 each.

A bricklayer kneads mortar for the joint of bricks, so around the house the waste mortar and pieces of brick are scattered.

So I sometimes have to clean up the job site because I need much time for cleaning, if I do it at once.

It takes much time to be cleaned only by a supervisor. So all of us goes there together.

Of course, I did it. There is no exception even though I say a president. I changed my cloth for the work, too.

The cleaning is endless, even if I also do it. So, we clean around the house partly but thoroughly. It's a knack to concentrate it.

Space isn't enough between the house and the next and we waste the time in such a narrow space, if we move around the house. It becomes efficient that we stay in a place.

The major house builder would not eager to do such steady and troublesome work.

My Philosophy, When I build a home, is to take much time, to take much labour and to take much mind.

By the way, the brick which is installed at this site this appears first in Japan. This orange red brick is called Old Markham.

The gentle color matchs white windows. Come and check it, when the net comes off.

A stone counter for island kitchen

A stone counter was put in Moriyama-ku, C's house by customer's strong request.

Weight 150kg and thickness 20mm. Cabinets for this island is bigger than usual, so the counter is huge.

The black stone with a tinge of Brown is polished carefully, and indeed it may look like mirror.

At installation the counter was lifted carefully by my staff, as it may crack.

Well, I was a craftsman of cake making in school days.
Of course, it's part-time work, but I was so professional and a boss entrusted every process.

At that time a counter was also made of a stone. So, I know a stone is most suitable for cooking.

It has high cooling function, but it isn't cooled rapidly so and that a tool is hurt.
And it is suitable to knead, to thin paste with water by hand.

I have thought that I wanted to use such stone for house building but it is so expensive.

So, in this time Home Made makes much effort to answer her request.

I must say it, the surface seems flat but stone is made of the small grains actually, there are also many gaps on the surface. So, when you spill water as it is, water enters into the inside.

Please be also careful in such thing and make a good dish by all means.

Today there are a plumber and a house cleaner in C's job site.

Yesterday my staff took sheets off for floor guard. So, I think that the cleaner can do his work easily.

I have not finished my work yet, but how about this interior?

The solarium dining is so beautiful with some arches which add a rhythm in the room.

Shadow of a big chandelier shows flower shape on the floor.

White mouldings and kitchen contrast with orange beige colour walls.

How do you feel it?

It is good opportunity to see the design of interior and exterior.

Exterior Renovation Just Started!

I started to assemble a scaffolding in I's house, Nisshin city on last Thursday. It was a little rainy day but I did it as much as possible.

This house was built 16 years ago. As far as you see the picture, it looks beautiful, but the painted concrete roof is discoloured and the inside of wood siding also receives damage by water or moisture for a long time.

It is so sorry that a customer waste much money at this time. I suppose that it would be necessary, if a renovator had taken an action properly at re-painting 6 yaers ago.
(For your reference, most of Japanese roofing materials is made of concrete and is painted on surface for water resistance.)

The discolouring occurs by that he did not clean the surface enough and painted on the stain.

When a customer came to me for advice, he said that a piece of the roof dropped off on land.

I checked it on another day, a new paint came on the back at cracking line as the picture.

It means that the crack occured before re-painting and the renovator knew it then. He does not have a common sense for his job.

I would like to come up to a customer's expectations because I could get a good relationship with him by this trouble.

By the way, I will install a Canadian asphalt shingle roofing which has a function of algae resistant and 30 years warranty. For exterior cladding, I will install the same PVC siding as I posted it before.

Make it new!

I, Home Made renovate a house which was built 11 years ago in Akaike, Nisshin. I have almost done except tiles of entrance stairway.

In this renovation, I install a PVC cladding at exterior. Though it is common in North America, it is not familiar to Japanese.

It is not discoloured and is different from paint because at manufacturing process the colourant is mixed in the material.

And it is quite durable on weather and deterioration does not occur so much, comparing to domestic concrete siding panel.

Please see the upper picture. White trim line has some cracks and becomes dark at the below by rain.

I recommend to fill compound in cracks and to paint exterior wall, but the costomer wants to change it to a maintenance free one and chooses this siding.

This is designed by North America and is made in Japan. It has both of design and quality.

PVC is light. So, it does not impose a burden on the structure and does not go bad by moisture or rain.

Of course, if a problem occurs on the exsisting siding, I can strip it and replace to PVC cladding. If no problem, I can also install it on the exsisting siding. It depends on case by case.

I guess that PVC cladding will increase in Japan for only new construction but renovation.

But please keep attention that we must take measures to fire regulation in Japan at the installation.

Open House information of Western Style House with Brick Cladding

I introduced the house before. At that time bricklayers were installing bricks. And I will complete this house in the middle of Apr.

So we'd like to hold an open house on April 10th (Sat) and 11th (Sun) prior to delivery. Time is 10:00-17:00.

I think that the job will be continued before a delivery, but this is also the ideal chance you can see interestingly.

Following picture is the kitchen with island, but a counter of the black stone is planning to be put on Island's cabinet soon.

The American design is also one of highlights, a shower room beside a main bedroom, a huge living room where you can deal with nearly 50 party visitors and a solarium dining.

Wrought Iron Grille is good for crime prevention

In Japan people uses aluminum grille for windows but it is easy to break and it is not helpful for crime prevention.

Because it is hollow core and thin. So, it will occur deterioration soon.

And it is fasten by screw or bolt on a wall. So, we can remove it easily.

But I, Home Made make a wrought iron grille even such a big window.

The iron parts are welded all and they are made of solid iron. You cannot break the grille easily.

Though you may not find some twisted ballusters in the grille, it looks nice a little.

When I install it on a wall, I use some anchor bolts. So, you can hang on to the grille.

At the last I make the bolt head into a ball. Then you cannot turn the bolt.

I do not install a fake grille on a window. It is important to put a thing to practical use and design.

However, please be careful. You cannot go out from inside here.

Our roof insulation is the absolute!

In Home Made, the asphalt shingle made in North America is usually used.

This roofing material is comprised of asphalt and glass fiber. So, it is light and highly flexible.

And the color of the surface is taken out by a grain of a natural stone and there is no color fade. It's different from Japanese painted roof material.

It is guaranteed for 30 years, though Japanese one should be painted after 10 years.

This roof material is soft, therefore, it was difficult to install some outside ventilation system in the roof up to now.

We are settled by high-density polypropylene which is twined like a net on the roof wrap sheet (shown it as white sheet in photo).

When you use an attic as a room, it will block heat from a roof off. And we install cellulose fiber insulation in the rafter. So, we achieve the double heat insulation system on the roof.

Air (humidity) goes through the roof wrap sheet, but water isn't let through it.

Even if interior humidity is passing through roofing plywood, we become able to release humidity at the space made by the polypropylene net for ventilation.

The other house builders install asphalt roofing sheet directly on the roof plywood as waterproof sheet. So, dew condensation is caused between the waterproof sheet and the roof plywood. And they cannot resolve the problem that water degrades plywood.

Of course, We, Home Made, use the cellulose which has function of absorption and desorption of moisture in a roof. And I also get the inside ventilation system to release humidity from a ventilation layer inside the roof.
Even if this outside ventilation system isn't adopted, roofing plywood isn't degraded.

Therefore to save the budget at the house building, I think it isn't even necessary to install the outside ventilation system, if you do not use an attic area.

Dulability depends on as natural providence and high quality in building technology.

You also know that a low-cost isn't compatible with high quality of course, right?

I showed a job site in Moriyama to the customer who build in Obu for his reference.

He wanted to check interior design, the color of the wall and the cabinet arrangement, etc.
I think that he will feel the elegant atmosphere here, but his house in Obu is designed a dignified image with quite atmosphere.
So, I think he could confirm that Home Made built houses with design variety in the wide range.

I'm always speaking to everyone about this thing. I build houses to use something which are the same manufacturer and the same spices approximately. But when they complete, the individuality of the customer goes out.

When I combine a wall in light beige with a tinge of orange color with beautiful pure white cabinet and knobs of bright brass, a kitchen is produced brightly.

And you can feel high grade here by a black kitchen counter, too.

It's just Drywall!

Here is C's house in Moriyama-ku. The completion drew at the middle of next month. Now I am building in the most interesting part.

Carpentry work was alomost completed, and equipment and appliance will be installed accordingly.

An interior image is light natural feeling, but it adds with sophisticated elegant. I coordinate the interior as the photo, so that visitors might impress.

I take the photo at the same angle as I introduced the drywall preparation on the former post.

When it's painted by Canadian PARA paints, beauty of the arch is the best.

And here is double hung windows with the half circle in front of the kitchen sink.

It was decorated with the wood trim moulding painted in white. Indeed, we feel the elegant atmosphere.

The colour of kitchen cabinet is pure white, too. So the contrast with the color of the wall is also elegant, isn't it?

Of course, I was considered them with my customer one by one.

I always consider a house design with much time. when it becomes real, customers are deeply moved, right?

Purification ceremony before building breaking up - M's House in Toyota -

Time has passed a little, on February 20th (Sat) a purification ceremony was done in the house where my customer has lived.

The day was different from now and was a little chilly day, but it was the good day which cleared up.

There is the person who doesn't do such a purification ceremony and a Shinto ceremony of purifying a building site. But I think that such a thing is important in spite of religious belief and we need to say thanks to the old house and greeting to the land for new building.

Of course, well, you can confirm at the ceremony that it'll start now.

All of his own things has moved when the breaking up. But disused article is usually remaining there. In such a situation I always feel the memory which is left there.

He will also feel deep emotion to the house.

All the members purified every room together. It's a good thing, isn't it?

When the construction drawings complete, we start to build a new house. I'll make best effort for it.

Run-on Work in M's project, Nishio city

The completion drew near at next week's end. Small jobs are still remaining there. though I have to do work much, now M's house building construction is in progress smoothly.

Installing a kitchen and equipments, concurrently, Coloring and painting are being done in sequence.

The oil named the color, "Olive" is coated on a solid pine flooring this time.

This natural oil paint added yellow to the dark brown a little.

While there are a lot of customers who like reddish brown recently, this customer choses the original color.

The wooden door, the frame and the interior mouldings are applied by this olive color.

The oil has no gloss because it's natural oil, but natural gloss is coming out one after another.

And the color of the flooring is also becoming dark one after another because of solid wood. After 10 years, it would be the quite antique interior.

Please image it and the color had not better be satisfied at the building completion. It's quite difficult, but important.

Oh, it's same as seasoning of a dish, isn't it?

Drywall preparation

I introduced the big arch at naked structure in former post.

I install gypsum boards on it with tape and compound as drywall finishing. It is beautiful, isn't it?

I need gypsum compound and labour so much to do such good work. It is just a professional job! I made the edge of opening round. You may feel it like the plaster wall in the region of the Mediterranean Sea.

I will paint a color here now in PARA paints. It becomes sophisticated surely, when it's finished.

At that time I will take a picture at the same place as this and will report it. Don't miss it.

It’s a classical designed bowl. Recently, such an ancient style in a modern space has been able to work as a designing accent.
The wide apron around the bowl doesn’t allow any water splash even when kids are playing. Of course, the space can be used as soap tray, as an easiest inspiration.
Anyway, the white colour is the best for vanity; brilliant and sparkling.
It looks very good with this white tiled counter.

Pedestal vanity sink

The snow white vanity sink reflects on the faint purple wall. This vanity has no cabinets and is called “the pedestal type” in North America.
Her foot is on the image of roman column and helps to create a classical mood. The splash guard is engineered around the sink and you may get less water trouble. There are shell formed soap treys both sides of the tap.

We set this lavatory faucet. Japanese major manufactures don’t make many cosy vanities set for narrow space. We have ever dealt with many Japanese ones, but I never found best ones: sometimes it was too big and sometimes design was not good…
This faucet’s tap and distributing pipe of rusty bronze-look are nice. The white valve lever creates comfortable mood, too.
A planter hanger made of pine wood supports the counter plate of pine, and also looks good with the floor tiles.
The carpentry work takes quite longer but the faucet becomes a pretty good point for your house.

Prairie Flower Pedestal

KOHLER, the most popular company of flower painting vanity bowl in Japan.
This is a pedestal type: the vanity bowl on a foot. Of course bowls without foot are also available in this flower series.
The flowers on this series are growing in the great prairie in central North America. Each flower is drawn by artisan hands.
For that reason of their time and skill, it costs quite expensive, but, for some customers there is no place instead of those flowers. You could understand by watching such beauty. It’s a treasure in your house.

It’s not surprising in imported products. Especially, imported lighting’s shades are mostly made of glass. So, some troubles are occurred during the shipping.
The products are usually delivered by ocean shipment, but, according to the deliverly period, I requested to deliver 2 lighting fixures by air. Unfortunately, they all were not handled properly. Hence, they were broken. We all know the transport workers do not handle our bags carefully. So, fragile products can easily brake. 　
Some Japanese can’t stand it and get angry. Japanese common sense is very rare all over the world: receiving the product in good condition, on time is extreamely important. We kindly ask for your understanding. After all, “We can install it upon receipt of replacement shade. Until then you can turn it on, can't you? it’s just a lighting”. So take it easy.

Maintenance of an awning window

The part to operate a PVC awning window in the bathroom has been rusted. I was requested advice about this problem by a customer.

Right away, I went to see the situation. The house was built 16 years ago and there is humidity in the bathroom. So that, one-third of the bracket for operation arm has been fallen off. The operation arm should be fixed by 2 screws but only in 1.

It has been taken a load on fellow for a long time and it breaks soon.

As for North American window, many window manufacturers are using the same part. So, it's possible to order a necessary part, even if we aren't handling the same window.

But in such a case, we must check the size and the shape in details. To procure it from an overseas manufacturer, builders have to comunicate with them in English. It's difficult for the other Japanese builder.

There are so many customers who built a western style house more than 10 years ago. So, I guess such question from a customer increases.

It takes so much time to settle such a problem, but I could not get the enough profit because of the small part.
However, I think that I should do it for an in trouble person, that I will contribute to social purpose.

Solid Model - N's House in Ohbu -

I have written a scene of framing work in N's project lately. And a soild model of this house was just completed, though it is a little different from the original drawing.
I noticed him it and he came to my office shortly. He seems to wait for this for a long time.
I suppose that he will be so pleased to see a 3-D house instead of a drawing.
I designed a house which looks big, as the land is along a road at east long side and there are triple garage doors orderly like a town house. And also windows goes in line.
I will install whole bricks as exterior cladding. If it's done, I think they're highlights.
The chimney is not a fake and a wood stove will be put on.
When you have such a model in your hand, an image spreads again.

Lamp shades show the ceiling beautiful

The lightings which we import from North America are mostly set light bulb of candle shape. Incandescent bulbs are classic and nice, if you cover them with fabric shades, the lights become faint and elegant.
So, the fabric lamp shade looks gorgeous on the ceiling. The translucent fabric creates superb shadows. With lightproof shades, it looks different.
Indirect lighting shows your rooms fantastic.

Tiffany’s Chandelier 65114

Tiffany, the most famous stained glass product. Everyone knows it.
It’s not few who like this colours even though Tiffany also has simple and flowing design.
This picture is quite small to describe, but actually it’s a big one: height 54.5 inch, Dia. 38.5 inch. So, this chandelier requests a room in 110 SQF or more and a stairwell.
For a simple modern or natural country style house, it does not suit their favorite, but if you like elegant style, this Tiffany will be your family’s treasure.

Heritage Grey

This colour is different from major red bricks. It’s named “Grey”. But actually, the base is reddish clay. So, the washy red appears somewhere on the surface and it looks kind of pinkish from a distance. It’s a unique feature of this brick. Texture on the surface makes an antique mood.

This Canadian bricks were laid for Mr. F’s house in Yagoto, Nagoya. It’s on the base of the image of a “white castle in fairy tails ”. The total amount of the bricks for thins house is 8,000 pieces. We invited three bricklayers from Canada.

We almost completed a construction frame work of N's project in Ohbu.
Now we have worked with Canadian framers at frame work and their job looks so nice and speedy.
Since I asked them a framing at C's project in Moriyama, they are working together. Because they are earnest on work and their skill is excellent.
So, my jobsite is always clean and accurate.
Japanese always says that Japanese works hard, but regarding house building, I think they have a craftmanship.

In this picture they put a plywood on the rafter as underlayment for roof.
They are men of iron nerves in such steep slope!

Door Bell

Recently the door phone for entrance is being the mainstream with camera like a mobile phone, though there is also a time when a chime was called as ping-pong before.
But in M's project of Nishio city, I will install a door bell which has been never seen now in Japan.
The sound is "RIRIRHHHHHIIIIIN", like at a platform in the old train station.
I had a request from the customer whether there isn't something of such feeling and searched and found it in Canada as a picture.
Small body made of steel which did silver plating. Dry cells was connected and rung on probation, but it's quite noisy then.
How do you think about such a retrospective item?
It seems to be my customer who eagers to put something fascinating.

Old Japanese Modernism

I introduce a glass door which I install in Nishio city.
My customer prefers Japanese antique so much. However, the house is an brand-new. So, I look into some antiqued items and install them in accordance with her preference.
This is the one of them. Japanese calls it Checker Glass, but people in North America usually call it Cross Reed Glass.
I had seen it at a private clinic, a barber or a public bath in Japan but now not.
Recently it shows at internet shops in Japan. So, it becomes popular with some Japanese women.
I painted the solid wood (Hem-Fir) doors by darkish natural oil. I feel it dignified, compared with a hollow core door.

I needed a few days for re-starting frame work due to cold rain. But the big walls stand up one after another.
Today, I completed the 2nd story frame and the remaining is only the roof work.
When the jobsite would be narrow or has some limits for work, I choose a panel framing with a crane instead of on-site framing by hand.
In order that I can save the time, I will make walls and floors in the factory prior to framing.
Such a work is so fast and a wood house was built in the blue sky.
Some worry the rain at the framing, but it is not necessary. I use water resisitant plywoods for rain.
However, please be patient that stain will come out from plywood with humidity after rain. It is natural.
Old Japanese carpenters say that nails rust by rain and hold wood tightly.
In this house I will install 3 successive garage doors on the front. Keep in touch.

My First Valentine!

In this morning my customer's wife came to my office suddenly. And I build her house now.
She brought Brownies and chocolates as Valentine's day gift to us all. We all were so surprised because we become old and we cannot get such a gift at all. However, her purpose was different from this.
She lost her way about interior colour and tile design, because her friends have seggested the others. I guess that she thinks anything seriously and she goes to a different way from original.
In such a case I always think that you should keep the first impression or feeling. It is very important for choice. The first priority on house building is "design" which depends on your feeling. At the first moment, you can get inspiration strong.

Colorful wall - in Chita city, K's residence

To decide tiles to put on the floor of vanity / restroom / the entrance, I waited with an owner on the site on Monday.
The concept for this house is the vivid and bright American house.
On choosing the tiles; I have asked a painter to put colours on a part of interior walls. I think that he can image the rooms and choose the tiles easily.
Therefore in the place to attach door frames and the crown mouldings, trial coating by the dry wall paint, PARA was done beforehand.

The left room (a restroom): light purple, the room of the middle (the small room for his wife): darkish pink, the right room for children: light sky blue.
(The passage which is outside of rooms: pure white)
Canadian paint, PARA shows you the beautiful colours which are never seen in Japanese paint.
And then he chose stylish and unicolor tiles, not decolative. They will fit with pure white frames and show fine contrast with walls.
Such an American house is suitable for a young family.

This manufacturer uses Greek goddess name to their products.
Today I’d like to show you a rectangle bathtub. Square shape is usual in Japan, but it is equipped with jets. It is 1.8m long and bigger than Japanese tubs.
Joyful wave design is engineered inside the tub. A shower is installed on the bathtub in the picture, but most of Japanese might not like to try it. Those who like it are challengers.

I finished an open house in Chita city

I held an open house of K's residence in Chita city on the weekend. On Sunday it was mostly cloudy and I worried a little. But many new customers came in the afternoon.
The real western style house is not familiar to Japanese. So, they are so interested in this Canadian house. And one of visitors, who is a Canadian family, they were so surprised the interior and exterior because it was the same as their parents' home in Canada.
Hear the words, I feel that Japanese does not become rich in life.
This is a master bed room where I planed on a garage. Gray-Green drywall interior and dark brown furniture and white window make contrast fine. I bought furniture with an owner in Canada. The price of a bed is only $399 (Excludes matress, etc.).
If you go to Canada for shopping, you may be able to save the cost, even if you pay the tour expense. You can live in rich, when you have a good sense and find a nice builder.

There are different colors in white

There is variation of White, though people like the interior coordinator well know.
The white base paint becomes colored slightly, just in dropping a colorant, red, blue and black. I can create white tinged with the color taste.
People do not discriminate the difference of slightly colored whites that I am colored, unless you set the paints on a table. In the color alone, show only a color of the white
When, as for the white made like that, other colors came near, it shows the own color.
In addition, even as for the white same in changing gloss, not changing color itself, it shows a different color.
We usually use a gloss free PARA paint on the big area like a wall and the ceiling for dry wall installation.
And to a base board, a window, a door, the frames and interior decoration trim such as casing or crown moulding, I use a semi-gross PARA paint.
When we paint them properly, PARA paints can make the interior elegant.
(PARA PAINTS is really used for this interior) It is wonderful!

In this jobsite, the dry wall is in full swing now. The photograph was taken a little while ago.
A carpenter Incises some into wood of 2x6 and I changed it in the form of the arch and made it. At the bottom of the wall of the so loose arch how many people can stand? I arranged it to become the large party space in dining (the front side) and living (the depths side). When there is such a large arch, I feel grand.
Of course, the edge of this arch finishes a bull nose round corner by dry wall. To do such a finish; special corner material is required and We, Home Made have such a material in stock. The challenge that a person does not do it is pleasant, I always think so. Therefore only such a new customer looks into Home Made. At all events when I finish a drywall, I will show a photograph of this wall. Stay tuned!

Clasps support brick house against the earthquake!

It’s a building picture of the wall of Mr. H’s house in Hirabari, Tempaku, Nagoya. You can imagine that Canadian bricklayers built it by their hands.
Ca. 10,000 pieces bricks per a house, three workers finished them in only 15 days. The speed and beauty when a house is built up, are realized because of them.

As you can see, horizontal rebar and the vertical ladder (not in the pic.) are the base for the earthquake resistance. And brick ties unite the building frame and the brick wall. The brick holes lighten the brick itself, to let into the rebar and mortars inside of the holes, and the wall is durable. It is the special way for exterior brick cladding!

How to lay the whole bricks

I’d like to show you how to lay the bricks here.
For the brick installation, it’s important to be carefully and have to be laid perfectly to prevent from damage in case of an earthquake. Perfectly laid bricks get no problem if it falls down of an earthquake.

So, three claps are used to sustain the brick wall stronger:
1. Put a rebar through the brick hole to hook up them vertical.
2. Put a wire truss between bricks to hook up the bricks horizontal.
3. Connect the brick wall to the wooden structural building frame with the brick tie.

Please look at the illustration. Those invisible works are really important.
Those materials are not purchasable in Japan, and we import them from Canada.

Decorative Kitchen by Antique Finish

In this category I introduce the design of kitchen in North America. In Japan many people think it as a practical field, but it also seems a display for North American people. So, their kitchen is always cleaned up and when they cook some dishes, they use a microwave or an oven instead of a range.
This cabinet is finished some colours with much time and labour. We call such a finishing as Antique Finish.
At first black or dark brown paint is done and white or beige, sometime red paint is covered on it. After drying, sanding work is done with sandpaper partly in order to show the dark paint on surface.
They make an image of antique on the cabinet by the finishing. We need the cost more but in North America there are many manufacturers which produce a high quality cabinet.
And they can provide you with some option, door design, wood spices, knob and accessories. We have never seen the variety of option in Japanese cabinet manufacturer.
Cupper pots and pans impress the antique at kitchen area. It’s real early American style, isn’t it! We must keep tradition and culture for next generation

In Japanese house such a stylish apron is not installed on the bottom of window inside, though we can see it at residence in Europe.

We need time and decolative moulding more for installation, but we put it at C's house in Moriyama.

At the dawn of the western style house building in Japan, we often found the moulding but now we have never seen it.

In Japan it seems to call it "Zen-ita, Table Counter".

When we add the device and design, the house gets grace and value more.

Most of Japanese brick houses are put slice bricks on, but actually, in North America and Europe, whole bricks are to be laid from the basement.

Yes, Japanese bricks are tiles! The whole bricks named MAX have 90 mm in thickness and 257 mm in width. So, they are big and massive. The heat insulating and durability differs dramatically from brick tile.
